02 GTX 4-Tec na Help No Power

Just bought a GTX 4tec na and need help.

The ski will only go 35-40 WOT. The oil light came on and dealer said oil sender was probably bad; replaced both front and main oil senders. No more light, but still only does 35-40 with one person. Idles great, starts great; does have a hesitation when starting out.

Put three people on the ski and could not get over about 5-7 mph. Same hesitation, ski was acting like it was full of water (no water inside) and had no power. Noticed smoke (kind of white). Oil looks great; coolant looks great.

Tach says it is turning 7800 rpm's.

Impeller and wear ring looks OK.

Unit does not list any fault codes (press set 5 times).

Is there a clutch between engine and prop that could slip?

What in the world is happening?

It is either your impeller, or wear ring or both. If your getting the RPM's you are cavitating BADLY! Get the pump off and go through it!!

    Thank You!

I looked at the pump, but am not that familiar with tolerances. What is the gap between impeller and wear-ring? I also noticed others talking about a white plastic component for the pump; don't see anything plastic inside.

your wear ring might be scared up. That is plastic and surrounds your impellar. Sounds like you have a problem somewhere in the jet pump area if you are getting all the RPM's and no speed.
