    1996 SLT 780 Turns Over But Does Not Run

    I have had this craft for two seasone for the first season it ran fine. Took it to the lake this time and it never ran well, had to start it several times until it died. Had to tow it in.

    I bought a new battery for it and now it will crank fine but will not fire. I am very green to this stuff and like others on this site do not want to take it to the repair shop.

    Any ideas where I should start? There is a lopwr sign on the MDF and the reset sequence does not seem to work, I have not tried any diagnostic until I get some expert advice. I have looked over most of the posts but do not see something close to this. Any advice would be nice.

    Welcome to the Hulk!

    Here is the 1992-1998 Service Manual. Have a look at the diagnostic information.

    MFD lopwr can also be reset by unplugging it for a while.
    OR it might mean you have a battery or charging problem.

    Make sure your battery is charged, then connect a multi-meter, and verify you have MORE THAN 10.5 DC volts while cranking the engine, as measured by the meter at the battery.

    More Facts

    Two more facts I neglected too mention;

    When I towed it back I did not have some one sit on it so it nose dived and may have gotten water logged (stupid mistake), when I run starter fluid to the carbs it cranks over and runs till the fluid gives out the battery is fully charged and cranking on its own fine but I will do a compression test and see what happens. Thanks for the advice. I am wondering if there could be a fuel problem?

    You may have water in your fuel.

    check your water seperator to see if it's full of water

    Suck out the fuel in the tank empty the separator. Check the condition of the gas cap and filler neck look for cracks. Refill with fresh gas.
