ORLAND A Red Bluff man was killed Saturday in a collision of two personal watercraft on Black Butte Lake near Grizzly Flats in Glenn County, according to a press release from the Glenn County Sheriff's Office.
Richard May, 19, of Red Bluff received major injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead after he was transported by boat to the Buckhorn Recreation Area in Tehama County, according to the Tehama County Sheriff's Office, which is handling the coroner's investigation.
The press release stated witnesses reported the driver of the second personal watercraft, Patrick Konu, 24, also of Red Bluff, was approximately 30 feet to the back and right of May, when May reportedly, for some unknown reason, turned into Konu's path.
Life-saving efforts by people on the boat that transported May to shore were unsuccessful. Deputy John Trammel is conducting the investigation for the Glenn County Sheriff's Office.
