Lake Washington No Wake Zone WOW!

Took my Skis out on the lake yesterday and had a great day riding. Not too many boats and more than the normal quantity of PWC's. Great to see so many riders. But...Cops were out in droves...hastling everyone. Be sure you have all the necessary items in your boats. They are writing no wake zone tickets like CRAZY! Oh, and the fine is $343. Yes...$343.00. So, if you plan to ride Lake washington this year be sure mind the no wake zones, have your registration, your safety equipment and your boater card (depending on your age) or you'll be sorry. Cops doing boat checks like I've never seen! Think I might avoid that Lake this year.

No doubt! It's a long ride between Lake Wa and Lake Union through UW in that log boom, no wake zone area. Plus under the bridges. Anyone going to be out when the Blue Angels are flying at the end of July at Seafair? Launching is a nightmare so I haven't been to Lake Wa in a while. The last time was about a month ago at Gene Coulon in Renton and people had to park out by I-405, plus you had to pay like $16 to launch. I can only imagine what it is like now that the weather is much better.

I'm thinking Thursday when the Blue Angels practice will be good but Friday they're practicing the full show (hour). Saturday and Sunday forget about it, going to be too busy.

I would like to go out on Thursday (July 31st). We can meet up at Magnson Park in north Seattle or wherever works best for everyone.

If you go to www.seafair.com you'll see the schedule of the hydro and airshow closures/events. Plus http://www.seafair.com/docs/USCGSEAF...%20Handout.pdf will show you exactly what area is closed. I can't believe the logboom is a minimum $300 to tie up and if you tie up broadside then it's like $65/ft but a minimum of 32' to do so (so a minimum of $2,080 to tie your boat sideways to see the races and stuff). Thursday and Friday is free to tie off, first come first serve.

    I'm down for Thursday!

Sounds good...we'll try to be there too. I like to launch out of Mercer Island. It's only $7 vs Coulon too. Blue angels are great during practice from the water. Should be a good day.

sdrider...where on Mercer can I launch for that price? Do you think there'll be parking available? I'm guessing the earlier the better to get there.

Right under I-90 you can launch. There are about 30 spots I'd say. Early is better. Might have to camp for Seafair...LOL.

If we want to try Magnuson Park I think it has about 85 stalls and it opens at 4am. The cost is $5.00 to launch.
