    FX Cruiser upgrades..

    Howdy all,

I'm fixing to do some upgrading to my 2004 Yamaha FX Cruiser. I'm looking for any hints or tips for making the install smoother. I ordered some parts of the riva RPM kit. I have the intake grate, ppk, Sola 12/19 setback impeller, drive shaft tool, and ride plate. I've already installed the riva air filter and free flow exhaust. Any hints or tips on getting the pump out? I know I should heat the bolts on the ride plate to make it easier to get the bolts out. I have some permatex blue that I plan to use on the reinstall of the new plate. I also have some moly/lithium grease (supertech brand) that I plan on using on the drive shaft splines. Anything else I may need??

    Thanks!!!

Well, I got out there earlier and started stripping parts off. I heated the rideplate and pump shoe bolts for 10-15 secs using a propane torch and they popped right out. Ive got it all apart and the driveshaft/impeller on my workbench. I'm waiting for Riva to send me the correct driveshaft tool and ride plate so I can slap it all back together. I believe Yamaha is in LOVE with the red loctite. It was on everything!

Everything was much easier to remove than I thought it would be. Now, hopefully it will go back together as smooth!

I can't wait to find out the improvements. I'm still waiting for the drive shaft tool and the correct rideplate. As soon as I get them, I'll put it all back together and give it 24ish hours for the sealant to cure. I'll probably take it out late Saturday or early Sunday.

Ahh!! I finally have the correct ride plate, but they sent me yet another impeller tool. I now have 3 impeller tools and no damn drive shaft tool. If you order anything from Riva Racing don't talk to Maurico Martins. He's retarded or something.

I finally received all the correct parts and put it back together on Friday. Today was my first day out on it.. Man, what a huge difference! Before I could only hit 50mph on the speedometer, but now I can hit 62-63mph. I haven't GPS'd it yet, but I plan to some time this week. I love it now!

    So far:
    New spark plugs
    Riva Power Filter
    Riva Intake Grate
    R&D Ride plate
    Riva Pump Plug Kit
    Homemade freeflow exhaust
    Solas/Riva 12/19 setback impeller
    3M 4200 Fast Cure....
