    Part out or sell outright? '96 XP

    Decisions, decisions...

    With the used PWC market (and everything else) seemingly at a low point, I'm thinking of parting out my stock '96 XP. That is everything except what I'll need to drop a 951 back in it

    I don't see getting a lot for the boat, so at this point I was thinking I might be able to come close by parting it out. Am I off my rocker?

    The engine is low hours (60ish) and never been opened. The hull is in fair condition so I doubt I'd get as much as 1800 for it. At this price I think I'd rather convert it into a crotch-rocket.

    Any thoughts?

    Don't know if it works, VTS motor hasn't worked since I got it. Never got around to replacing it. If I get enough positive feedback & decide to part it. I'll list the parts that I've verified to be working.

    How much are you asking for the engine? I'm looking for an short block and carbs. I bought two XP looking almost brand new, but one of them is shot.

    This seems to be a common delema.. I was selling my 95' XP, but have not had good luck selling it. Parting it out was my other thought, or just keeping it as a spare..

    Since converting it would mean keeping a lot of the parts that'd normally be sold in a true parting-out, I won't get near as much as if I were able to sell a running ski. That being said, the market kinda sucks for skis, but there always seems to be a market for parts.

    I've got a lot of good 951 stuff laying around, so it'd cost me very little to convert - hopefully offset by selling the engine, hood, etc.
