Brown Wire, Pin # 5 at MFD

Does anyone know what the brown wire going to the mfd is for? it goes to the pin marked #5 on the back of the mfd? Mine is cut and i am wondering if that has anything to do with my starting/running issues?

Pin #5 at the MFD is a Tan wire.It is used to warn of overheating.
Tan wire starts at the exhaust manifold/temp sensor, wire runs into the electrical box where it should split(using the terminals marked "tan") 1 will run to the CDI (ignition controller) 1 will run to the MFD.
The temp sensor is a normally open (to ground) switch. When temp reaches a certain temperature it grounds, causing CDI to limit RPM/timing (unspecified rpm's) and signaling the MFD to display "HOT"/illuminate red warning indicator at top center of MFD.

Make sure you do not have a groud signal at the temp switch when running.

so really there was no advantage to cutting the wire that goes to the mfd? if they wanted to avoid the rev limiting from a faulty switch, ect. they would of had to disconnect it at the elec. box?

I personally have never seen an advantage to cutting any wire,it usually bites you in the end.
Sometimes the red warning light is more annoying than limited speed,LOL.
