New Member Intro / Noob Question

Just picked this up for my son (age 12) for our fourthcoming week vacation at Shasta Lake

I'm told by the seller that it's a 1988 - is there a way to know for sure what year it is

Runs good seems to be well maintained - probably put a pipe on it, and jet it up accordingly

Welcome - last two digits of the vin/bin numer is the model year. Will be on a plastic plate on the outside of the hull in the rear. I have no idea where it is on that ski.

I believe you can tell by the last 2 digits of the HIN (Hull Identification Number) i.e. if the last three numbers are "00" then the ski is a 2000 model..

    Agreed

Although from what I've read, putting a SS impeller on it might bump it up pretty good for power?

    Any comments towards a SSI?

yea im sure it may increase performance a little but from what i noticed on my nice waverunner III its not like putting an impeller on a rxpx which will add 2 mph and push it past 70 mph it may add 2 mph but it wont be as noticable and improvement from 35 to 37 so i would save the $$$
