Unhappy First ride this Year = Last ride of the Year

Here's my sad story. I've been so busy traveling for work I haven't been able to get on the water. Yesterday it was sunny and 90. I told my boss "I'm taking off early and going riding". We put in and rode. For about 45 minutes, life was good. Then IT happened. The ski (RXT) lost power and died, wouldn't even crank over. Pulled the seat, nothiong obvious. Had to get towed back to the ramp, first time in 10 years. Got home and checked things out. Supercharger appeared good. Pulled spark plugs. 1 & 2 were good. Number 3 was toast, it had obviously been beaten to death by the piston/valve. After doing some reading, I suspect it drop a valve or snap the timimg chain. Looks like a one and done - 1 ride, season done. I've got a couple of questions: 1. I'm not the original owner, how can I find out if there was an extened warranty on the ski? 2. I don't have the time or skills to swap out motors, what would a 2005 RXT w/35 hours and blown motor sell for? 3. How much would a dealer charge to replace the motor. When I brought the ski (Aug 07), it only had 18 hours and the owner said he never had a problem with it so I can't say for sure about a previous washer failure. Oh well, as they say "S--t Happens" AArrrrrrgh!!!!!! Thanks for the help!

    Where are you located?

You can give the VIN to a dealership and they can see if/when your warranty expires/expired.

Got a chance to check things out a little further today. Pulled the valve cover and thought I would find something obvious but nothing. Timing chain is still there and I don't see any evidence of a drop valve BUT something made contact with the spark plug. See pics. What do you think the problem is??
    Thanks for the help.

See if you have a broken valve spring. That would allow the valve to contact the piston multiple times. Maybe a peice of the valve broke off and bounced around in the cylinder.

    Good luck.
