    Groco Strainer & SHO

Installed a strainer on The SHO, first surprise was the water line was 5/8 not 3/4. So after a quick trip to the local home depot to get some 5/8 barb to 3/4 mip elbows & about 6 ' of heater hose. The install went very easy. There is only about 10" of OEM hose from the inlet barb off the pump. It connects to the fitting that includes the flush adapter & the the split where it sends water to the engine & intercooler. I completely removed this hose. You then need 2 pieces of hose almost 3' each. The water flow through the strainer flows from left to right in the photo, the hoses route in an x pattern to put less of a strain on the hose. I used Pure poly-Urethane to mount the bracket to the side of the engine bay, I use this at work all the time & is one of the strongest adhesives I've found that is easy to work with.

    Hey Jim,

When are we going to ride? I want to check out your ski and maybe have a friendly race. Nice strainer installed. I hear I should do the same thing on my RXP-X.

Yep, any ski with an external intercooler should be running one of these. We found this out long ago with the modified RXP's/T's

It will prevent debris from clogging up your intercooler which will make it less efficient.

Hey JP, I rode out your way two weeks ago up the ST Johns from Ed Stone up to Blue Springs. Got in a little trouble by Astor on the way home during rain & lightning. Fish & Wildlife didnt think lightning was a reason to speed through a no wake zone. I disagreed, he told me I needed to get to "Safe Harbour" I told him that was on my trailer @ my truck. No sense of humor!!!!
Hey you can try the ski anytime, but I'm sure your X ski will win the race, but thats ok, I really like this ski!!!!!!
