Engine bogging down
When I take my 2yr old daughter out for a ride I usually take it easy and run the boat at 20mph with the engine revving a little under 5000RPM. Whenever I do this the engine bogs down if I try to accelerate after this. The maximum RPM it lets me reach is 5000RPM. The only way to get out of this mode is to turn off the boat, restart it, give it full throttle in neutral, then it is ready to go again.
I have been told that the Sportster LE DI has a bug where the knock sensor will send the boat into limp home mode when the boat is operated between 4500 and 5000 RPM. I think this is what I am experiencing. Has anyone else had this issue? Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
