94 raider 701 hot sensor going off

Was riding my 701 purple hull raider this weekend... cruising about 50mph ran perfect. I stopped for about 5 mins and when I started back up, the hot indicator was flashing and wouldnt let rpms turn up enough to get on plane.

I lifted lid.. checked connectors, felt head ect ect but all seemed ok. After about 15 mins, started back up and ran fine rest of day. (but I never cut it off unless I was going to be stopped for awhile)

Are there any known issues I should look at? It did it once last year also with nearly identical circustances ( after being shut off a few mins )

    thanks
    David

Could simply be a bad thermo sensor... Its basicly a ground when activated. You can unplug it while the light is blinking to see if the light stops. If the engine is not running hot then just replace this unit. If the light stays on, you have different problems. I have seen these thermo units crack and give false readings, when the engine is not hot.
