    Weak XP

Hey guys my 2000 XP seems to be weak in the power department. It only gets to about 6000 RPM top speed 45MPH is that right i would think it should be topping out at like 7500RPM? any thoughts let me know Thanks!

I've got a 98 XPL with the same problem. through searching forums I've found to do the following.

    1. clean R.A.V.E. valves, make sure your vacuum lines are connected, and test the solenoid that controls the vacuum. You put 12 volts to one side and ground the other and you should hear it click.

    2. Check for exhaust leaks.

    3. fuel filter, clean it or replace it.

    4. new spark plugs. this gave mine a couple hundred more RPM's (Still only 6200)

    5. Clean carbs.

I suggest you get it running right first, then worry about mods.

other than raves, carbs, filters, fuel lines what can cause a 951 to only get about 62-6400 rpms at about 54 mph?

I will look at those things ASAP, Mystic have you rode another XP? I haven't rode another one for a long time, but according to others who have XP's they should go at least 60 and have a good holeshot. Maybe it's just me though I might just be desensetized I do ride a 05' R1 to work everyday and that has some get up! Anyone else had this problem and found a fix?, Thanks guys!
