    Thumbs down GP1200 Problem

    Hey everyone,
Got my GP1200 on the water earlier this week and had it running great for the past 3 days until this morning when I went to start it up. Got it in the bay, but had to try several times to fire it up. Once I had it running, I did a couple quick laps and didn't see anything wrong with it, although I did have to keep it on the throttle as idling seemed to be killing the engine. Took it out onto the lake and was a good distance from shore when it literally died completely on me; engine, computer, everything. Attempted to restart it and had the screen reading "VOLT", so i assumed a battery issue, although not too sure as to why that killed the engine mid-run? Finally got it to shore after a rather lengthy swim (not impressed) and charged up the battery. Fired it up on the trailer in my yard and had it running fine. Took it back down to the lake and went to fire it up not 2 hours later. Had it run for about 5 seconds, die, and the screen read "VOLT" again. Is this a battery problem? With a full charge on the battery, it started up just fine out of the water. Not the most mechanically-skilled person, but hoping this issue is not something thats going to require a large amount of shop time. Any ideas guys?

Try a new battery in it. That will be cheaper than any diagnostic you will have done. How old is the battery? I usually replace mine every second year.

Battery was brand new last year. Should I be having the idling problems and dying mid-run with a bad battery? The charge was reading full this afternoon.

ok back at it with the problems . . . i've got it running and idling well, but anything more than about 10 mph is killing the engine. bad gas/fuel line issue maybe?

pull the temp sensors, see if that does anything

still not looking any better; idles fine, but as soon as you get on the throttle, the engine dies. checked the fuel lines for leaks and/or kinks, but didn't see anything of worry. put a new tank of gas in it as well, so don't think the fuel is the issue. gummed up carbs possibly?

I would go through the carbs and while you have them apart, rebuild them.

im checking the past posts for the carb rebuild threads, but how much work is involved with that? im not exactly a top notch mechanic and not wanting to make anything worse than it already is.
