    Possible Issue? Need some suggestions...

    I went to go swap the piston on my SL650, and after ripping the thing apart and confirming my 60psi compression due to the trashed piston, i found out my new to me piston said 50 on the top, and wont fit my cyl... Also, i realized the crank case was 1/2 filled with water, im assuming that was due to me hastily removing the jug, filled with water. But i fear its possible it is leaking as there is a crack in the side that was repaired with jb weld. I have a new crank case, but...

    Do i want to tear the thing all the way down and risk breaking something and probably need all new gaskets to put in the new crank case?

    If i do put the new crank case in, what would i need to get? And whats the best way to solve the piston issue, bore the cyl out to 50 over, or get a new piston?

    If you think the case is leaking and you're this far into it, you'll kick yourself if you find out you were right.

    As for the piston, get another one. It's cheaper than boring the cyl. Plus you'll have equal size pistons.

    Alright, i think thats what im going to do...

    Is there anything im going to need when opening the crankcase? A gasket kit or something? Or could i reuse the old ones as long as they dont break?

    Oh, and who sells gaskets for this thing cheap? I tore the gasket on the bottom of the jug, so i need one of those, and i suppose i will need a new crank case gasket...

    Engines laying on the grass... Im going to start the tear down later today.

    Get a complete Cometic gasket kit for around $65. Then you'll need a tube of Threebond 1211 for the crank case. It doesn't use a gasket, just silicone sealant.

    Ok... Took the jugs off...

    The PTO has some different type of piston on it, is in BAD shape, and its a 1.5mm overbore!

    The center is OEM, in poor shape.

    Mag is OEM, with massive gouges in the sides.

    What the hell do i do about this? Is a 1.5 over bad to blend in with the standard bores? I would say so...

    Cheap solution?

    Get a different cylinder w/ matching piston if you can.

    Get a different cyl and buy a new WSM piston.

    Bore all 3 cyls oversized.

    I think im just going to get a 750 top end kit and get honed jugs...

    Should be $425. Should last at least a year or two, right?
