    2001 Virage 700 - front end bounce

It seems my virage is very rough and the front end will start to bounce if the lake is at all rough. It is okay at low and high speeds but at cruising speeds it does not plain flat, the front keeps bouncing. Any ideas or is this normal? Works fine if the water is calm.

Is this a new problem, or did it have the same ride before the engine troubles?

When you re-installed the ride plate, did you ensure that it was fitted in just as it was before, not at a different angle front-rear?

Did you have the nozzle off the jet pump?
Make sure you put the jet pump wedge ring (located right in front of the jet pump exit nozzle) with the thickest part at the bottom.
Are you using the stock pump wedge?

If the fuel tank is not full, that will make the nose lighter.

If you are heavy, and you sit far back, or have more than one person on board, that will make the nose ride higher.

The higher and lighter the nose, the more bounce you will have.

Only drove it about 5 minutes before the engine went down. One thing it has been running perfect since I rebuilt the engine.

I thought with the screw holes, there would not be much room for error putting the plate back on. I did use some marine silicone for the plate but it did not get very hard like the factory stuff. I am thinking of taking the ride plate off and using better silicone. I cannot seem to find Loctite 5900, what other brand makes this type of silicone or what specs should I look for? I think this may be my problem.

So you removed the ride plate, but NOT the jet pump?

Did you follow the Service Manual guidelines regarding carefully and completely sealing the ride plate to the hull?

Any air leaks around the ride plate or jet pump intake can create air+water cavitation, which messes up the jet pump's ability to pump water consistently.

I would think that as long as the sealant is smooth cured, applied where it needs to be, and not pulling away from the surfaces it is applied to, it should work OK.

Can you show us some photos of the sealant as it is right now?

Watercraft is at the lake. I did follow the manual instructions, but the silicone I used just seems very soft. I am going to try and buy some Loctite 5900 or 3m 4200.
