    Unhappy Lost the PTO again

Well just like before the PTO blew out on my ski.. this time it DIDN'T burn a hole it just chewed the fudge out of it.. the rings busted and the exhaust side of it (Piston) is toast...

What do you think caused this

p.s. there is small protruding edges on the pto's cylinder sleeve right at the top exactly center to the damaged edge of the piston

what a way to end my vacation

    heres some pics

    DETONATION

You have detonation issues going on even in the mag piston. It also appears that you have the head gaskets off, and if this is the case then thats more then likely whats going on. I can email you your pics with arrows showing you where you can read your pistons and head chambers if you need to see it better. email them to me [email protected]. then you can post them here if you want thats up to you

What do you mean I have the head gaskets off O.o there Brand new factory Gaskets that I changed when I purchased the unit... there even stamped "TOP" and from what the forums said the tabs should be under the cooling spout.....

(Added: Im just gunna order a new set Lets see if I can get Randy from watcon... if you read this Randy please email me at [email protected] I will email you back an orderlist of parts...

ok whats the cause of the detonation... there is absolutly NO pitting in the Mag cylinder its just covered in oil film and carbon.... those pictures don't do any justification unfortunatly I forgot my real cam at home and had to use my Palm treo's built in cam....

?? all I want to know is how to prevent this also is the cylinder sleeve/wall salvageable its extreamly smooth to the touch theres no scratch's wear marks or pits anywhere on the wall... it DOES look like there is either build up of debris or something on the top edge of the cylinder wall where there is the damaged part of the piston..

is the mag piston damaged in any way and is it still usable ????

and KEYZBUM if your reading this please read the PM I sent you cuz if its gone I need to find another....

What would the steps be to check if theres damage to the engine and would there be lower damage due to this PTO piston Blowout ??????

Im starting a parts list for stuff to do to it..

just be glad it is the pto (you can fix that 1 in the boat)
    my brain says ;
pto --water intrusion (i would say lean but with no carbon )
    cen --very close to perfect
mag --way too lean (you would have melted this 1 if you didnt lose the pto)
and i am sorry to say i dont realy want to get involed with lost bank tranfers if you want to, get set back up with paypal (if only to send money)

Rotfl Im Done with the local Postal place if I have to I will get my buddy to get you the funds Via paypal, Im Sorry but im not using a lapsed secureity Website that sides with the buyer all the time and the seller gets hosed every effing time.. I lost 2 laptops due to paypal, I received payment sent them, they received they complained of no receipt, I showed both UPS's tracking numbers showing the delivery and signature and I still lost and they refunded the other arsefart the money

and thats fine I will find somone who will take a Insured Bank draft...
I already got the first refunded back it was delivered to the wrong address and returned back to the subsidized back that TD Canada trust uses in the states and the GH seller received the funds 3 days ago so thats sorted

As for the Motor its probably comming out so i can verify the lower end I wanna make sure the bearings are good even tho the motor has LESS then 5 hours on it after the rebuild to know

ok so now what would I do to find out what caused the lean conditions in the PTO and Mag.... Im just going to pickup a PTO Cylinder off a GH user.. and probably order the Piston etc, Head gaskets, Fuel Hoses, Water hoses, filters, Clamps, a carb rebuild kit and all the needed gaskets off of randy if he can Email me
I have a replacement Cap for the PTO, a sender, a selector and a 3 Port Mikuni off the a GH seller on its way
and probably a 750 cylinder housing/sleeve, and a pro 785 Electrical box/harness of another member
.. I honestly Don't care where it comes from just as long as it works and I get my ski going and fixed

Feral: Did you happin to go through the carbs at all? When my pto blew on me i took the carbs off an took a look. There was alot of brown crusty stuff in the carbsm diagphrams all streched out, needle& seat hard as a rock. An there was gas oozing out of the atmospheric vent of the carb. Check for that as well, could be the culprit here bud.
