Arrow MSX Glovebox pad 5830234 - where does it fit?

I received my shipment of parts from Babbitts, and one of the items I ordered was what I though was a replacement pad for the inside of the glove box, part 5830234.

As per the attached diagram (part# 20), now I am wondering if this pad fits underneath the glove box, rather than inside it.

The shape certainly doesn't match the inside of my MSX 140 glove box bottom, and this pad is over 1/4" thick.

Does anyone have padding inside the bottom of their MSX glove box, or is it just the molded plastic?

My 2002 Virage TXi has a nice pad glued to the bottom of the glove box, so I figured this was the equivalent for the MSX...

I don't have a pad in my glove box, i'll look later to see if their is one under it.

I do not have a pad in the glove box, only the hard plastic bottom. There is an indentation which acts as a cupholder, and a small rope pouch mounted by rivets on both sides of the glovebox.

So is it just some sort of anti-squeak pad, or to press the glove box up into position better?
