2006 exhuast used on a 2003 PV motor

Has anyone noticed a power increase by swapping the 2003 PV exhuast with the 2006-07 exhuast on a 2003 motor? I'm talking about the U-pipe and elbow section that is connected between the header and stinger.

i have spoke to many about this and it seems it works best if the 03 is kept to its exhaust system as no gain was found by fitting the ring section that yamaha claim gives the extra 5bhp on the 05 and above to the 03-04,
but in my spare boats case i have the exhaust the other way around,pv exhaust fitted to a 05,on this ski i am missing a few revs and testing a few things tuesday that might of caused rpm loss,if no luck then i am looking to swap out the ring section for a 05 to see if i pick up rpm's.

hope this helps a little and sorry i cant answer your question 100%

    Hydro,
In comparing the part #s, the elbow/ring section on the 2005-07 is different from the 2003, as is the whole U section. Theoretically do you change both on an 03 for the possible gain? At first I thought it was just the elbow...

Seems like the best combination for an 03 GPR would be the 05 elbow/ring with a GP1200R water box, removed sound supression (freeflow) and a dplate.

is that with an opened dplate or leaving it how it's already cut?

    well...

    maybe not

it depends on the motor size and combination of mods - there is no single answer for all skis

my unported carbed 1300 ran best with the complete 1200 exhaust (stock) The only change was an opened up D plate.

my ported 1530 runs best with 1200 exhaust, protec tube, free flow, 1200 waterbox
