    Engine swap and shims

I'm in the process of an engine swap ( taking a 96 sltx engine into a 02 Virage body) and was wondering if I should use the old shim count from the Virage to install the engine or just start from scratch. I don't have an alighnment tool yet but I was hoping it would be close .

the old shim count wouldn't do you much good since it is for variance in the hulls, I would start from scratch and get the loaner tool on it's way

I agree. Close isn't going to do you any good. You need to be dead on, or a bad vibration will develop and trash your pump bearings.

Ok I get it . Close only counts in Horshoes and handgrenades.
