1998 seadoo xp limited, cavitation and plaining out?

My 1998 XPL seems to cavitate alot. I have to trim it ALL the way up for it to get out of the water other wise it just goes to the rev limiter, I've looked and the wear rings, it looks good, Everything looks tight. Any ideas?

Also, a question about trim adjustment. With the trim all the way up, how far should the nozzle be angled up? Right now mine seems to be not far past level.

Sounds like the seal around the driveshaft is sucking air ??

Try packing that zert fitting with lot's of grease and see if it goes away for alittle bit.

Might be time for a new seal.

Is that the rubber deal with the two grease fittings under the rear cover where the battery is?

Sorry for the ignorance, I'm new to ski's.

Yeap the one close's to the hull feeds the bearing and seal.

The book say's it should be greased every 10 hr's but I do it everytime before going out.

make sure the rubber seal is on the pump. i had the same issue with cavitation but found if i turned hard to the left it would not cavitate. i had to put some sealant (called the right stuff) between the intake grate and ride plate/shoe area. make sure the rideplate and shoe are sealed well too.

the 98's originally came without any seal, just "right stuff sealer" was used. you can make a seal our of flat neoprenefoam they sell at wal mart in the sewing section, thus elimitaing the messy sealing crap everytime you take the pump off. Unless your ski has the updated pump that will use the newer rubber sealing system, then there is another issue like the other guys mentioned.
