    FX140 taking on water...

My neighbors fx140 is taking on water after it sits over night, I checked the hull over and it's solid... the pump shaft cover is tight... I was thinking it might be the ride plate/intake grate leaking somewhere...

    Anyone heard of this?

Well i know you probably have but check the plugs. Mine sunk it is fine but I have changed my plugs and it's not taken on water since.

Put it in the water when bone dry sitting and not running and see if you can see where it is leaking on the inside with the seat off. Or when on the trailer use a hose and put a few inches of water in the bottom of the hull while not running and see where it leaks out at, shouldn't be an issue to do this. Both might show if it is a leak from a small location that isn't visible to the naked eye.
