    ZOMGVTEK's SL 750 Build Thread...

    Follow me on a journey into making one super siqqq SL650 for as cheap as possible...

    Im going to have a bunch of questions along the way, to be sure to stop by on a regular basis to check out the updates and help me out when needed.

    And so it begins...

    The ski started life as a 93 Polaris SL650 that would barely run. Rebuilt the carb and tryed to tune it, and it would still need the choke to be pumped to get to full throttle.

    60/100/100 compression is thought to be the cause...

    Pulled the engine and im going to swap out the crankcase with a new one without a crack in it, and 750 pistons and jugs.

    Crack in stock crank case, thats no good.


    I put teflon pipe stuff on the screws to help keep in compression. Sure the crush rings are there, but i dont want compression leaking.


    Oh, what a nice looking assembly. (not sealed at all yet)

    While you have the engine out, put a strong bleach and Simple Green mixture in there, and let it soak.

    Swish it around, or even take it for a ride on the trailer.
    Drain it out carefully (wear rubber gloves), and rinse very thoroughly!

    Cleaned up, these hull interiors can look pretty good!

    Be careful using the bleach mixture. The fumes can be strong, and it WILL attack anything you are wearing that is not white already.

    Im just going to hit it with some green scrubbies and rattle can it flat black.

    Depending on the condition of the paint on the engine after its all together, i might paint it red or something while its out.

    If it runs good, i will probably get the ski painted satin silver metalic to match my car, and obviously need some vinyl to redo the seat, likely paint the plastics and bumpers red or black.

    OMFG STUFF!


    Whats the little oring for, and the big rubber gasket?


    The rings say RN on one side, does that go up? And the arrows face towards the hood of the ski, correct?

    Alright, so do i need SL750 heads, or do my 650 heads work just fine on this?

    I was thinking they might, and i dont think i was told i needed them... But im not sure. And i guess i would need the 750 head gaskets too then, right?

    I have a set of carbs for a 750 if you need them.
