Check Out What We Found in Our Pump!!

Yesterday, me and my dad had two other people on our Sea-Doo boat. We were cruising in Barnegat Bay in New Jersey and all of a sudden, there is a thump and the right engine dies. Today, we pulled it out of the water and found a ton of yellow rope in the pump and wrapped around the driveshaft ! The first two pictures are of what was hanging out of the pump including a metal bar that thankfully did not get past the intake grate, the third is of Captain Ron holding what was hanging out of the pump, and the last is all of the rope that was wrapped around the driveshaft.

The same thing happened to me on Friday, but once I removed the pump, the rope just slid off the shaft. I have learned a lesson from this experience and that is always carry 2-10 mm wrenches, 16mm deep socket, 2-6" extension, and a ratchet (or my favorite a cordless impact driver). Once I got home took me about 5 minutes to remove the rope, and that was after an hour of trying to cut the rope at the lake with little success.

amazingly, the prop was fine when it was checked. the wear ring got some damage. but what really broke was the shaft protector. it was like shattered and little blue pieces of plastic were all in the rope

my dad just pulled the driveshaft and its protector out. there was about a third of the protector left. and then, he realized that the driveshaft was bent . so now a new one has to be ordered
