    Start Trouble

I just can't seem to get a hold of that guaranteed "one press of the button" start too often after I de-winterized my ski. Sometimes it takes me 8 presses of the start/stop button to get the ski running. Occasionally I have to hit the throttle and then try to start it which doesn't make sense to me since the RXP is fuel injected. It is usually good at starting while it's warm, but should I just tighten the battery bolts? I couldn't find the square nuts that go on the battery so I jammed some round ones in. Could this be my problem? What about spark plugs? I'm still running the stock ones.

I had the same sort of problem late last year into this year. I replaced the starter relay (about $30) and have never had a problem since.

i have had this problem as well and i know there are a couple guys on here that have the same problem too. once its warm it starts right up but when its cold i never know how long it will take to start. i think replacing the starteer relay will be in some of our futures.

Is the engine turning over and just will not start, or is it not turning over at all with the push of the button?

If the engine is turning over and not starting more than likely the idle solenoid on the throttle body needs replacing.

occasionally it will turn over and not start, thats when i hit the throttle. then it starts right up. other than that it just clicks each time i presh the button until 5-8 tries at starting.

I have problems when the bilge is HOT! I usually just open the seat for a minute or so.

can anybody offer more information on the idle solenoid? (price, install difficulty & time, is it likely to be on the shelf at the local dealer?)
