    Broken Bolt!! Help

Hi all - One of the horizontal bolts that hold the stinger to the top of the engine is broken off in the threads. It is the front bolt that is broken. How should I go about getting this bolt out? Or is it ok to have just the 1 horizontal bolt. The engine and exaust seem to shake a lot in this ski so I would like to replace it. Any suggestions?

    Thanks again!!

Is there any threads sticking out for you to try and grab on to? An ez-out may get it out, or slotting it with a dremel tool. The bolt really needs to come out and a new put back in using loctite and the correct torque spec. You may could make a few rides with it, but the other bolt is likely to break since it is taking all the stress.

    two options...one is shady.

    option 1:

go to sears, buy decent tap+die set that actually comes with ez-outs...use set, retap crappy bolt holes...keep for future

    option 2:

go to sears, buy decent tap+die set that actually comes with ez-outs...use set, retap crappy bolt holes...return for full credit.

what you do with that information is up to you...id drill the center of the bolt out and do option 1...its one of the best tool sets I've ever invested in...and technically you could do half of what I did with the "big" set for 280 bucks...its a full metric set and comes with about 5 different sized ez-outs.

    There are no visable threads..

Would this work? to get the screw out.

And this to tap new threads?

Total is about $55. Instead of the $280 as suggested.

check if there is a fastenall near your home...you should need a 10mm x 1.25 tap...that kit only comes with a 10mm x 1.5 which wont work. The ez-outs should work...all you need to do is drill a hole in the middle of the bolt a decent distance so the ez-out can do its thing....remember to use the right size of the ez out...

problem with sears is I think the ez outs are an online only item...which is why i suggested the tap+die kit.

good luck...but it should be 10mm x 1.25 on the threads...

fastenall carries and can get them along with a replacement bolt cheap and quick for you provided you have one around you.
