    WTB CDI for 96 SLTX

    MY CDI is toast, it has holes burnt in it. I just puta new engine in this thing so parting it out really isn't a option. My P.N. is 4060137. I'll take whatever will work (afterrmarket etc)

    The control unit alone is like 230 bucks, spend your money on the up-date kit and know you won't have a problem with the stator next month.
    When the stator goes bad, I don't think you can't get it seperately so you'll have to purchase the kit anyway.

    Yep, stator converts to the kit. 2873091 and includes coils, stator, CDI and wires and sells for the 385 area.

    NO COILS and the outdated CDI box 4010447 which is no longer made either
    And yes you can buy the New Stator seperately and also the latest CDI box as well!!
    4010447 show part being discontinued period

    Yes if you want to replace everything the kit is a good deal if you need it!!

    According to Polaris you can't buy the stator alone, it supercedes to the ignition update kit (see photo).
    Item 1 CYL PWC IGN UPDATE,96-98
    2873091 replaces 406012

    I'm also showing the CDI available, either way Polaris has something for the update as you know.

    I am online with Polaris Factory for my Daily orders and this is what can be purchased and in Stock or not!!
    This is the latest and up to date info

    You have to use the part number for the stator in the kit to get it seperate. If you put in the CDI box in the kit it comes up discontinued, but Partsmart has an updated CDI box listed as the 4060180. Its funny the Parts diagram even on the Polaris CONSUMER website is not updated and current

    Good to know but my point is, you still can't run the new stator with the old CDI so IF the stator goes bad you wind up buying the kit and now you just wasted your money on purchasing an old style CDI when you can just buy the kit from the start and be done.

    Thanks for the help. If the 180 box will work with the present stator, I think I'll risk it. Its not so much the price of the upgrade, it's the pulling the engine out again part of it that I'm not into.
    I will say that when I saw a ski here in the classifieds being parted out because of a bad stator and cdi, it scared the hell out of me.
    Also thanks for the welcome. Randy at Watcom put me on to you guys and he was right. I was beginning to think I had the last Polaris PWC on the planet when I started looking for this part.
    I just hope the Stator wasn't the cause of this CDI melting. If so, I'll probably be soon to melt another one.
