Thanks, he'll by 5 in September.

The charts are free from the advertisers. They should have them on their counters. Not a bad idea to get laminated. Beats $20 per chart

What are the numbers that are scattered throughout the bay on the chart. Not the bouy numbers, the small ones all over. Depth at Low or High tide?

    Yes
The numbers should represent the low tide lows. This chart is just good for locating. If you go into a bait shop the charts there are more accurate than this one.

Charts can help with short cuts and can let you know when, how, and where you can cheat the channel. Its always a good idea to see the ride on paper before you do it.

80% of the Barnegat Bay is less than 5ft deep

That inlet can get 35 feet deep.

I used to have a small stack of these in print that my parents picked up on LBI...
If anyone is interested I can check with them to see if any are still laying around the house or over at my dad's work...

The small numbers are being generous on the depth.... Most of that is well under 1' deep and it changes pretty often naturally.... as some of us found out a few weeks ago...
