    What to do now?

My 2001 gpr 1200 is running kinda iffy. For the first few minutes its in the water it runs great. It gets to 50 mph in like 5 seconds. Great acceleration and alot more giddy up left and after about 3 or 4 minutes it accelerates alot slower and only gets up to like 52. What could this be?

Its the catalatic converter in the upper section of the stinger pipe were the 'U' shaped section of the pipe,in front of the motor, connects to the stinger, were the rubber coupler is to the right of #1 and # 2 cylinder.

Take the stinger out.The cat might be in pieces or parts will be rattling around. If bad, replace it with a 'D' plate and cat temp chip.

Also make SURE you get all the pieces out of the exhaust.

If the d-plate doesn't do the trick, the carbs or fuel system may be gunked up. I had a similar problem -- the ski ran like stink until it would just fall flat on its face and barely get to 30MPH... turned out to be gunked up carbs.

I already have a d-plate with the temp sensor. It was like that when I bought it. I had the carbs rebuilt be a dude that had no clue and then I had them RE-DONE AGAIN by a buddy of mine that went to MMI. If I were to trust anyone to do them if would have been him. I put 12 gallons of gas in it the other day with sta-build or whatever that stuff is called and burned that off and put 6 more gallons in it the a few days ago and im still running on that. I just rode it again and its only got up to 57 but it was kinda tuff to get it there and it was only running about 6400 rpms. I thought it was supposed to run about 7K rpms?
