can you by-pass the fuel guage for limp mode???

    HEy everyone,

My buddy is up at the cottage and really wants to ride, but his slt 780 is in limp mode, there is a full tank of gas, so its the sending unit.....cant get the parts because he is on an island. Is there any way to re wire so it thinks its full.....or to unplug the gauge???

    thanks

Pull the grey wire that goes from the voltage regulator to the terminal board...that should fix you up.

Be sure to repair it ASAP because you are disabling the temp overheat as well as the low oil warnings, hate to see something go wrong because a sensor was disabled.

Not to mention no low fuel warning either.

Real easy to get stranded with no gas WAY out there.

What about disconnecting the wire from the fuel sender instead?

Would that eliminate the low fuel warning, but leave the other warnings functional?

You can't disconnect it but you can install a resistor between the wires leading to the electrical box to "fake" the MFD into thinking it has fuel..
