Starter bendix removal
I pulled the cover off, but do I need to pull the flywheel to change the Bendix out? I have had it down to the stator but cant remember what it looks like to get the Bendix out. Can someone tell me also if I need a puller also?
Sorry 98 GSXL 951 CC

Yes you need to remove flywheel & yes you need a puller.

Mine is a GTX rfi, I was thinking when I replaced the starter last year that I didn't have to remove the stator...

Maybe bendix removal vs. starter removal = 2 different things...I know the teeth on my bendix were bent/shot so I replaced the whole starter...probably overkill on my part, but I got a new one on ebay for like $80.

THe starter seems good but the bendix wont engage I am assuming broken teeth or something. Thanks Water I may tear it to the point of flywheel and see if the dealer will do just that for me. I have a small flywheel puller I use on my dirtbikes etc, do you think that would be big enough or is it pretty big
