    Intake grates powder coated?

I took my Riva grate off because I wanted to get it powder coated. The guys at the powder coating place said they believed it was powder coated, but not 100% sure.

Does anyone know for sure if they are or not?

This may be of some interest or fun for you to try anyway eheh.I work for a machine shop and we won't get things powder coated because it adds material to whatever is getting done. If that's not an issue and you don't have any tolerances to worry about then right on. But if you really wanted to get fancy and it's an alluminum grate, have it sand blasted with plastic medium and cleaned up really well, then send it out to get anodized. They can make it any colour you want and there's no added material. That's what they do to the heads and intake components to get that semi-transparent coloring.

Interesting. If the powder coating doesn't hold up I may do this.

Ok, the guy said whatever it was it was very thick. He said they can do some treatment after they powder coat it (I forget the name) to seal the powder coating. Do you know if Riva did this when they powder coated the grates from the factory?

No, I don't know but the powder coating does not hold up, after riding the stuff comes off on some places.

Then how does the powder coating on the Riva grates stay on?
