    Why are my starters seizing?

I've changed two starters on my SLTX in the last 30 hours. Both starters would no longer turn by hand once removed. Could this be a problem with my ski like water getting in the flywheel cover and somehow contaminating my starter motor?

My guess is salt water being from FLA. Maybe you can spray them with some protectant?

I recently saw this same problem in a slt780 where the starters kept going out. It turned out to be a bent flywheel tooth. A little sanding of the bad tooth and voila, good to go.
