Ball bearings rolling out of jet drive

I have a 1994 SLT 750 and the drive bearings have failed. Has anyone replaced the bearings and seals? I'm curious as to how easy it is to separate the shafts and how easy the bearings are to remove.
Any tips will be appreciated, hindsight is 20/20.

Prepare to buy some parts! The last pump I rebuilt with bearings that bad in it had been chewed up pretty bad.

You will need a impellor tool, and either a vice, or a strong friend and a good cresent wrench. This is to seperate the impellor from the stub shaft and pump stator, and also for reassembly.
