What is considered a lot of hours for a 4 stroke?

I am looking at a 2002 FX140 with 200 hours. It looks to be in good shape and runs great. What is the typical life expectency of this engine? What kind of issues/problems/maintenance should I be concerned with?

I have owned an 06 FX HO (sold it at 25hrs) and have a new SHO Cruiser (5 hours) so I am not familiar with these at higher hours.

great question...but i can't answer it. I have a 04 Kawasaki 12f with 125 hours and it runs like new. I did all scheduled maintenance and considering they require servicing every 100 hours then 200 hours is not much on a 4 stroke.

Check to see if the 200 hour service was done. If not, i'd use that to neg. price, but defintely get the service done.

Seadoo has a new tv commerical that states their watercrafts are designed for a decade.

Talking about lot of hours, I've seen 780+ hours on a Waverunner GP1200
It's a rental, my friends own it. And the ski never even once go to the dealer service for service
because there are no dealer here in our country, everything DIYO ( do it your own )..
Actually it's pretty easy to maintain a ski, as long you're brave enough to experiment
and not depend your ski's health to the dealer.

200 hours is not alot......as long as ski has been looked after, as said above check 200 hour service has been carried out, it's a big one, including valve clearance check, which can be costly.
