    Impeller boot missing?

Went under my ski to replace the intake grate and the ruber boot is gone from the impeller driveshaft area. Should I be worried immediately or can I ride it till I get a new one?

No idea where it went either... possibly i installed it wrong

You can ride it. It may cavitate a little more, but won't do any damage.

Are you talking about this rubber boot?

It keeps the grease on the splines at the pump. So you should replace it to prevent corrosion and premature wear of the shaft splines (or worse, the splines inside the pump.

Hmm...I think if you re-read his post he wasn't trying "not" to replace it. He just wanted to be able to ride it until the new one came in. Or I don't understand simple english maybe?

^ he got it right. Just wanted to make sure I could go to the lake today and ride it while I await the great mailman to bring me a new one.

DO i need the ring that goes on the outside of the boot or is it ok to have just the boot?

    PS
It does cavitate more and seems to not go as fast.

In fresh water you could go without the boot for some time. Many of the GPR guys don't use the boot at all because it offers a performance advantage in their set ups.

It definately was not a performance gain. I was cavitating on hard turns and from dead stop to full speed would take longer than usual to get going. I def think its hurting me. I already ordered my boot and will have to pull it all apart again. Oh well.
