    basics, intermitant spark one cyl 97 787-800 gtx

    front spark plug firing intermitant,previoudly i have replaced new rectifier, pick up, stator,cleaned all connections in black box, new dess sw.. was running great,let it sit for a few weeks and tried it out today and this.. swapped plugs ,just intermittant and was looking for suggestions where to go first.. i can hold spark plug boot off and on the plug and it will just drop out..then come back on

    As the coil fires both plugs at the same time,first thing I would do is replace the plug wires.

    Whats one of the first things you replace when doing a tune up on a car ??

    PLUGS!!! what do I win. WW.......LOL how about just clip the end of the wire and screw on a new boot then change the wires. But first the plugs a bad plug can cause all those issues IMHO

    before i hand out prizes, i swapped them and the problem stayed with the cylinder, i would have thought that i would get shocked by holding the plug boot in my hand if it was bad..I guess just really am getting lazy as the black box is tye wrapped closed as the locks are shot and dont feel like getting into all that

    Pull off the spark plug boot and trim the wire back. Do the same on the coil end as well if that doesn't work.

    Come on guys the wires are over 10 years old,if he is gonna go thru all that trouble,just replace the wires.
