    intake grate bolt

Hi all. I fitted my intake grate last week to my slx. The question i have is that it has come of a ski where the bolt is seperate to the ski, where as my ski has the bolt already mounted within the hull. as a result because the bolts are different sizes i have had to use the bolt that was originally on my ski. This bolt has a smaller head and as a result sits further into the counter sunk hole on the grate. Is this likely to be a weakness or will it still hold just as strong?
    cheers all

Picture of the bolt head in the hole?
How much of the intake grate metal is the bolt head actually gripping?

As long as it is stainless steel, you can buy a bolt that is a better fit.

Just be sure it is not too long, as you do not want to bottom out the bolt in the hull insert and strip the threads, or not have the grate tightly held to the hull.

Pay attention to the torque specs for that fastener, and use some Locktite 242 or 248.

You really should use the screw with a larger head on it, the surface area of the R&D grate is pretty large and most "common" tapered screws don't fit well.

Does this mean buying the bolt from R&D, or do you know the specs (and source) for the bolt (McMaster-Carr?)

I bought a few from Randy years ago but I have NO more, I looked for Kevin's ride.
