    40:1 or 50:1 premix?

So i changed over to amsoil HPI this weekend from the standard XPS seadoo oil. I had been mixing 40:1 with the XPS oil but the Amsoil says 50:1. Since i realize the Amsoil is made for a variety of devices, other then just sea doo. Should i use their recomendation? Or stay with 40:1?? Thanks!!

Also, if anyone is curious. HPI is great!! Near zero smoke. And you don't get the two stroke gag you smell as with others!! And it's a few bucks cheaper per gallon.

I have been running at 40:1, even though 50:1 is what is recommended not only on the bottle, but by the experts here.

Ok cool, thanks guys!! I figure the extra oil may be a lil added protection. Just making sure it wouldn't gunk up anything.

I'm not saying I am right, just what I am doing. I know when I go to Norris and have to use the gas stations, I end up being anywhere in between 40:1 and 50:1 since there is a bit of guess work involved when filling it up. I have to find time to pull my head one of these days so I can post some pictures.

I called Amsoil and asked their oil tech, as a couple of my skis are highly modded. He assured me that their oil would provide superior protection at 50:1. So far...he is absolutely right. It barely smokes, and seems to have better performance too. One ski turns 7760 regular with a lightened Rotax crank.

So after talking to him, I would go with what each oil company recommends. BRP recommends 40:1 for XPS, or Castrol does, but if an oil does a better job and only requires 50:1, there is no need to waste your money mixing richer.

Just another opinion for the mass of oil oil opinions...

As you know, that oil is made to be run that lean. AMSOIL has had a 100:1 oil since the 70's.
