RXPX Still stuffs with holes drilled ******

As the water warms up the stuff speed is dropping. At 77mph and 55 degree water we had stuff issues. Now at 89 degree water we are having random stuff issues @ 70 mph.
At 89 degree water and 73mph stood up to go across 3 little flat waves ( a Jet Ski Wake ) while walking forward from the back and easing out of the throttle, I got ejected the boat submarined tore the orange hood off.
This is with 1/4 inch holes drilled.
I had too much ride plate angle and home made stock style grate with wings. Had ridden this setup for 2 weekends with no issues and bam no warning.
Basically the tunnel is too big and too far forward.
So be careful use grates that close off water and drill holes.
You don't want to learn these lessons the hard way. The faster you go the more likely you are to get a visit from UNCLE BUCK!

    Ditto?
What about all of those X's out there with the Riva grate and stock ride plate; could this be a problem for them too?

The R&D seemed good to 77 without holes but spins taking off. Now the water is warmer who knows.
This is a real pain in the neck.

i have two 3/8" holes like described by Jerry and Frank in my R&D Grate and pump shoe BUT u also have to mod the ride plate tab of the X boats because if u DONT the water is NOT passing through the holes in the capacity that it can when the tab is modded in addition to holes in the grate and holes in the pump shoe......i will take mine off and take some pics because when i did it and if i didnt mod the ride plate tab too it was obstructing the holes to let the water pass from the shoe passed the ride plate tab to the grate holes and then out! guys with X models might look at this because its what i had to do to my X model! so far with the holes like this i have torcher tested my boat the last few weekends with BIG traffic in the bath tub behind my house for all it has in its current set up.... in 2 to 4 footers full throttle off throttle u name it.....smooth water full throttle then off completely and my boat has yet to make any unwanted moves but im only running 71+ to high 73's depending on the water conditions and temps. just wanted to add the part about the ride plate tab for everyone. good luck fellas!

Sea-Doo won't recall the skis because if left 100% stock there is no problem.

The 3/8" holes are to be drilled up from the bottom of the ski. Drill through the intake grate, continue to drill up through the ride plate and then finally up through the pump shoe (bottom of the "tunnel"). The drill bit will stick up into the pump tunnel when it's through all the way. Clean up the bits of plastic left by the drill bit poking up through the plastic and you're all set. I suggest drilling everything while it's installed on the ski so that all of the holes line up 100%. Just be ready to get aluminum shavings all over yourself.

So many threads have gone over this...
