    1992 SL650 Fuel pump upgrade questions

    Can anyone tell me the hows and whats to upgrade the fuel system? I have read a few articles that this machine needs another fuel pump or a 3 output fuel pump to keep it from burning up. Is this true?

    Arrow Why you want a triple fuel pump upgrade on your Fuji engine Polaris

    Lots of information has been posted on Green Hulk Polaris forums regarding the triple outlet fuel pump upgrade.

    Bottom line, the stock Fuji fuel pump, when operating in 100% good condition, can supply enough fuel to keep the engine from running lean.

    The problem is when these single outlet fuel pumps age, they become less effective, and cannot supply enough fuel flow to keep piston temperatures below self-destruct levels.

    At WOT (Wide Open Throttle), if the fuel pump is weak, the engine doesn't get quite enough fuel flow, the MAG (front) carb starves the most, and that piston ends up with a hole burned right through the top of the piston.

    You can rebuild the original fuel pump, and that will be JUST enough fuel flow to keep the engine happy. For a few dollars more, you can install a new, high flow triple outlet fuel pump, and be sure your engine will never be starved for fuel.

    These improved fuel pumps do NOT increase gas consumption, they simply supply enough fuel pressure to keep the carburetors operating properly.

    I am in the midst of installing triple pumps on 3 1995 Polaris 750sl's. I had not done this before. I am not removing the motors and don't know whether in the long run it would be easier. The 750 set up is triple carbs ... you need to remove the entire carb bank assy ... I needed a mirror and wished I had much thinner arms ... not hard but cramped!

    Okay so I just got my triple outlet fuel pump. I really dont understand that diagram you sent me. That Fuel pump has 5 places to plug in hoses. Can someone walk me through on what hoses goes where. I did already hook it up on the jet ski but not sure if it on right.

    I started it up and it seem to be running better but still not right. I dont think its getting enough gas to the carbs. I have to ease the gas slow for it to stay running then If I hold it open long it will cut out.

    Diagram #2 ^^^^^ should help you out.


    The fitting in the middle of the pump goes to the engine pulse.

    The largest fitting (5/16") on the pump is fuel supply IN (arrow should be pointing in)

    The other 3 fittings with the arrows pointing out goes to the carbs.
