virage 2002 800 dies while ridings

hello agian guys so while riding my 800 it will just die all of a sudden . It restarts but sometimes takes half hour but sometimes starts right away. So far has done it 6 times. I can go all weekend sometimes and sometimes it will do it twice in ten minutes. I was told it could be tps ? Thanks for the help jeremy

TPS seems unlikely to be the cause of the symptoms you describe.

Is your Virage carburetor or fuel injected?

Start by checking, cleaning, and tightening all grounds, including both ends of both battery cables. Then start checking any other electrical connections that control the engine (CDI or Ficht EMM, etc).

    Injected

my polaris 2002 800i. Its injected. I swear someone told me one time these have tps problems. But I was also thinking the kill switch could be the problem. As soon as i took the seat off it started. Im sure it was a quinky dink for sure. I can check all the grounds and stuff and other ideas? thanks

Absolutely the TPS can go bad. I just replaced two of my own. But when it does, the symptoms are not usually what you have described.

When it won't start, does it crank but not fire up?

Any messages on the MFI display? Red warning lamp?
Anything at all unusual about the display (blank, resets itself)?

Next time it won't start, unplug the TPS connector, then see if it starts. If it does, then the TPS might be the problem. It won't be able to produce power with the TPS disconnected, of course.

I'd replace the TPS as it may not recognize the "idle" position and dye. They go bad all the time so if it doesn't work you have a spare BUT you'll be able to take it out of the equation.
I gotta tell you when I was reading your post the first thing that came to my mind was the TPS and then the crank position sensor.
