Engine Goes BOOOOM
Allright guys so i had a pretty ****ty weekend. I was out riding saturday in some real heavy boat waves and just plain ruff out. Ski was running good (7050-7070rpms in slight chop2-3")then all of a sudden it died on me kinda felt like i was out of fuel. so once i stopped i tried to start her up again and she cranked over and started(thank god) turned around to head back to the beach where my gf's boat was and the ski died again same feeling, made me alittle nervous, tried to start and it sounded like the battery was dead, tried again and she started up, but was running real rough. I was at the bouy line and just limped her at idle till it was shallow enough for me to walk it to the ramp. Got back home and took the head off and this is what i found... front cyl. and head in the first 2 pics, then middle and rear cyl/head. The power valve broke and hit the piston which took a nice chunk out of it and dinged up the head alittle(see pic) i dont know where the peice of the piston is but im hoping its not in the crank case anywhere. Could i get away with just getting a new cyl and piston and having the head fixed and rejetting or is it worse?

Hey guys, sry i didnt add more detail the gf is over so gotta spend time with.
Its an 01 1200R
has 130+hrs on it, put new pv in middle cyl last year and new rings in all 3
-No wave eater clips
-stock jetting so it is proly lean
-only mods are d-plate and chip, 13/19 prop, R&D intake and ride plate, pump tunnel reinforcement.
Is the head ok? there is 2 pretty nice gashes in it, if its ok i wanna raise comp.

130 hours and lots of metal flyin around, do yourself a favor and put a new crank in her. I tried to go cheap once in the same situation and 20 hrs' later it was boom-the crank let loose.

Looks like your motor leaned out. But I can't supersize the pics
for detail info. It looks like your power valve is still in place, which
means you deto your motor by running too lean, then your piston broke
apart on the exhaust side, finally letting your rings catch your
power valve breaking things apart. Your piston is very dry and would
have caused different results than what you are saying. 90% of the
time people make the wrong decision on why there motor failed. It
will always tell you that you were wrong when the same failure
occurs again. Ben
