Nice way to answer guys without even asking him any questions first.

1.) What kind of water do you ride on? Riva grate is "faster", but R&D is better (faster) in chop. I don't find it enjoyable doing 70+mph in chop, so the other benifits of the Riva grate worked for me. Even still, the Riva is by no means "bad" in chop, it just takes a little more work/different riding style to make it stick sometimes. I know because I've raced another P-X with the R&D in chop and beat him every time. Better holeshot, and a slow (and I mean SLOW) pull at speed in 1' chop.

2.) Do you care about holeshot/cavitation? The Riva closes down less (almost none) of the pump tunnel compared to the R&D. I get zero cavitation and what I swear is a better holeshot with the Riva (although I did install the Riva 3" air intake at the same time, so more power too).

The Riva fit perfect on my ski. No cutting, shaving, anything... well except making the front mounting hole a little "longer". Perfectly flat to the hull/ride plate.

I'm not the expert here, but I think just saying R&D without any background info is like saying "Ferrari's are the fastest car in the world... because they are."
