OTS functionality? Same as Seadoo OPAS?

"The OTS function of Y.E.M.S. activates when the operator releases the throttle lever and attempts to steer the watercraft. This assists the operator in turning while the watercraft is decelerating."

So is the OTS system little flaps that pop out of the sides similar to Seadoo's OPAS system, allowing off throttle steering?

I assume you're talking about the SHO...

It doesn't have any flaps. I assume that what they mean is that the engine computer detects the operator trying to steer with no throttle and blips the throttle for them. I haven't really noticed it doing this, but then I haven't really been looking, either... I'll have to test it next time I'm out.

That is an "off throttle" system which means that it works when trying to steer while the ski is not under throttle. An "off throttle" system does not work when the engine is not running. OPAS is an "off power assited steering" which means it is designed to work when trying to steer while the ski is either "off throttle" or "off power" (i.e. engine is off).

Thanks, I was curious how it works

what franko said, it gives a small application of throttle in abrupt-deceleration, hard-turn situations....ECU detects this somehow...not dramatic ....more apparent at higher speeds....pretty cool.....either system is not a bad thing to have in a panic situation where the operator does a "deer in the headlights" move and lets off the throttle when, in a pwc, the steering is the throttle!!!!!!

I like to say "when in doubt throttle out"!!!

And ya I noticed the little throttle blip too. And there does seem to be a kind of launch control too, kind of keeps the revs down on takeoff. This was talked about on another thread. Just thought I'd bring it up again.
