high boost, higher compression, agressive tuning, not really needed unless you are running some radical set-up and require race gas.... if you aren't running the compression of boost to justify the cost of the fuel, you are just wasting money

    1. Open the fuel cap.
    2. Pour in the race gas.

Since there is no O2 sensor on the 4-tec, it won't foul with lead. No tuning needs to be done, either, since they are both gasolines. If you were trying Methanol, then a lot of things would need to be done.

However...the race gas won't benefit you much. You don't really need the octane. Some have run 20+ psi boost on pump gas with no issues. The only benefit you get is a cleaner, quicker burn. The result is a slight power increase, on the order of 5-10 hp.

You could actually go with one of the new Oxygenated fuels, which adds even more power due to the oxygen content. They use this in limited racing classes such as AMA Super Sport 1000, where there are very strict rules on engine mod's. Coincidentally, on the VP website, they say their Motorsports 109 "Fueled 2-time World Jet Ski Champion, David Sellés."

Basically, the fuel carries oxygen into the cylinder, just like air does. More oxygen in the cylinder = more power.

For the record, NitroMethane is VERY oxygenated.

Higher octane gas actually burns slower than pump gas. You will most likely lose power running race gas if your set up doesn't require it.

Jesse all you have to do is put some OXY10 in regular 87 pump gas and you'll gain 4 mph. That's all we did!
