Gtxscriders Slow Ultra thread
I decided to make a dedicated thread to getting my ultras speed up. As most of you knoe the ski is a 2000 im the second owner and it has 136hr . When i got it it already had the sbt engine in it . I had the carbs rebuilt , pump rebuilt and had it converted to premix. The only bolton parts are the R&d grate and 16/20 solas its currently at 60mph turning 6000rpm. im going to put on a moded stock grate that i have been working on to see if that brings my speed up some.

Things you should check.
Carbs re-jetted, now too rich
Air horns in the airbox installed wrong. Sticking out instead of in
Impeller clearance too tight.
Water leak between the head pipe and manifold. You'll see water spots
on number 1 plug. manifold wet on inside.
Sleeve Ports not lined up with cylinder.

i gpsed it today again with the new modedd stock grate i got 62mph gps. I gained 2mph over the R&d aquavain grate , ski felt alot looser on the water to. I knoe its still not where i should be at but its step in the right direction.

That missing rpm is where most of your speed is at. You might try checking to make sure the throttle is opening the butterflys fully.

Good job Modding that grate is a pita but it works well for flat water. You might try a run with the seat off to see if you are getting enough air in. You may pick up quite a bit if so try some of the air mods. The trim mod will also help free the hull up and gain some speed.

Could you update us on what you have done so far?
What are your compression numbers?
Are you sure that the pump turns freely?
