    96 Xp Fuel Gauge

    My Digital Fuel Gage Decided To Take A **** On Me Today.... The Gas Light Just Stays On And It Doesnt Show Any Reading On The Gauge..... Any Help???

    Sounds like your float is bad. It's an easy 5 min fix. Search for sea doo fuel float in ebay. It's like a ten dollar part. The magnets on the OEM ones fall off over time thus making the electronics think your tank is empty.

    Did you trailer it with the tank empty the last time you transported it?

    The bottom cap of the fuel pickup falls out when this happens, and the magnet & float falls out into the tank. Pull the pickup out of your tank and see if the cap is gone on the bottom. You'll then see the float and cap sloshing around inside the tank. Just fish it out and reinstall.

    tore into it today... u were right the magnite came loose from the float. i actually re glued it with a nasty crazy glue and put it back together... it works like new. thanks

    yup. lucky duck.

    the other way they fail is the internal fuse burns out, then they are FUBAR and the repair is a PITA too.

    Glad that was it!

    The internal fuse failure came out in later model pickups, 98 & up, and the 2000's were especially bad. In 96 the floats, caps, or magnets would just fall out.
