    951 need help

    Rebuilt engine about 15 hours ago commpression 140 on both cylinder was going to install new head and found this . Looks like locator pins came out any idea on cause? Pro x pistons

    It looks like the ring end-gap was too tight...In the left cylinder? Did you check them in the bore before installing?

    I'd contact Pro X about warranty replacements if you did clearance them correctly.

    End gap was good piston to bore was setup at .007 at a local ski repair/machine shop I think he setup to loose and caused pin problems

    .007" is not too loose, IMO. Even with piston rock the pin should not come out. BTW...I don't think they've come out yet. There are no gouges on the cylinder walls. Looks like only too tight ring end gap clearance to me.

    007 is perfect for Weisco but all other should be near 004 . The ring can get on top the pin and do some damage if its toooo loose even cause the pin to come out

    I only run .007 on forged pistons due to thermal expansion. i do .0045 on OEM or Pro-X and warm up 45 seconds for the first 10 hours or so.

    I always warm up the ski for at least a min before getting on it. going to pull cylinder of today. groove on pto is pretty deep so it will need rebore any suggestion on pistons ?

    Pulled cylinder, piston to bore .0075. End gap .025. Locator pins still in pistons can feel groves with fingernail Any clues anyone?

    Ring end gap should be around .015 if I remeber correctly. Did you file the end gap?
