    Low power gsx ltd

    I just put a SBT engine in my gsx ltd. I brought the ski out this weekend and it seemed fine, but when i opened the throttle up it didn't go very fast. I shut the ski down and turned it back on and the throttle opened up. Does this sound like i need to adjust the throttle cable or soemthing else on the carb?

    What are the RPM's at WOT? Did you break the motor in properly over 10 hours?

    WOT = Wide Open Throttle

    Knowing what your WOT rpm is will better help the issue. It could be a bunch of items...

    Check to see if your throttle is opening all the way...

    Did you replace the carbs? Are you running the original REED's, or new ones?

    the reeds are the older ones, but i did check them out and they were fine. Did change the diaphrams, fuel filters on the carbs.

    GO back out and tell us what the RPM's are...

    Also, are your RAVE's installed properly? Are they opening up?

    Ok, i'll go back out this weekend and let you know what the RPMS are.

    How would i check to see if the RAVE's are working?

    I'm bett9ing it's something simple like there was still air in the line or in the carb. you'll get burps for the first few minutes sometimes.

    If it eventually ran fine sounds like whateveer it was got out of there.

    you can only really check the raves by pulling the springs out and caps off and running it, it'll take forever to get there but will make whatever your top rpm is eventually. i'd be willing to bet you cleaned the raves before installing them, unless they came on the SBT engine, in which case i'm sure they are clean.

    Get the dealer to check the timing with the Buds system, I just did my motor and had a problem with it not starting and back firing and it was the timing of the new motor.

    Wow, that far off? I'd say 90% of the engines I've worked on have been #5 on the timing. it can go 3 degrees one way and 4 the other so i guess you could get pretty far off with the right combination of parts and wrong compensation setting.
